ROAD TO NEGRITUDE
LIBERATION THROUGH FOOD: The Legacy of Soup Joumou
Saturday July 19, 2025 · 6:30pm-10pm
Mercado La Paloma
All-Ages · $20 suggested donation
This event is exclusively for the Afro-Diasporic community of Los Angeles. Our festival in August is open to all!
We close our Road to Negritude journey with a celebration of food as a revolutionary act. Learn about the powerful history behind Haiti’s liberation and how Soup Joumou, the dish of revolution, became a symbol of freedom—eaten every January 1st to honor Haitian independence. Attendees will have the opportunity to share in this tradition and try this dish too.
